In April of 2000 I took a trip to Bali, a small Island in Indonesia located about 200 miles north of Australia. I had heard that for a musician hoping to expand his horizons, it was definitely a place to go to learn about a very unique musical culture. Cate came along as my assistant and she made a lot of cool sound recordings that I plan to eventually make part of this page.We were planning to do lots of Gamelan music research while we were there, and hopefully receive some instruction. Our driver, Gede, told us about a relative of his who lived in Munduk (in Northern Bali) was a wonderful player and teacher of Gamelan. His name was Made Terup. |
